Emcee Singapore: Charmaine had an insightful conversation with Jason Chua, one of Singapore’s youngest and most innovative hawkers, widely recognized as The “Beng Who Cooks.”


Charmaine explored the unique challenges he faced and the creative strategies he used to thrive in Singapore’s competitive food scene. Jason’s journey from a pop-up kitchen to a hawker stall in Chinatown, and eventually to a bakery.


During the pandemic, Jason transformed his pop-up kitchen into a community-focused business, collaborating with local eateries and media to support Calvary Community Care. His efforts to provide affordable meals for marginalized youths earned him recognition as one of the “Heroes of 2020.”


Charmaine highlighted Jason’s ongoing journey of resilience and adaptability in the ever-evolving food industry, including closing Wild Crumbs on Neil Road, followed by the launch of his own stall at the SIA Training Centre.
