  • Empowering Developers to Create Innovative XR Experiences

Emcee Singapore: Charmaine hosted the virtual webinar on Empowering Developers to Create Innovative XR Experiences. In this webinar, two industry experts emphasized the importance of delivering innovative immersive experiences in today’s phygital world. They explained that as consumers increasingly engage with brands across multiple channels and touchpoints, it’s important for businesses to create memorable and immersive experiences that connect with consumers. To do this, businesses need to leverage emerging technologies like augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) to create immersive experiences that bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds. For example, AR can be used to create interactive product demonstrations or virtual try-on experiences, while VR can be used to create immersive product campaigns, allowing customers to see products in a way that is not possible in a traditional brick-and-mortar store. Overall, the metaverse represents an exciting new frontier in technology, and developers and business owners were very interested to see how they could embrace it in the coming years. The first speaker was Steve Lukas, Director of Product Management for Qualcomm Technologies, who shared the future of AR with Snapdragon Spaces. The second speaker was Joel Udwin, Senior Product Manager working on Niantic’s WebAR platform 8th Wall, who shared his knowledge on building real-world metaverses. To round off the webinar, the organiser shared their initiative to build an innovation ecosystem that supports the growth of technology infrastructure and fosters innovation in Singapore.

  • DocuSign Campaign: Media Interview on MONEY FM 89.3

Emcee Singapore: Charmaine was interviewed live in the studio on MONEY FM 89.3 PrimeTime by Timothy Go on “How businesses can ensure they are authentic in their sustainability initiatives”. They were joined by John Pabon, Sustainability Consultant and Author on Facebook Live from Australia. Apart from signing many hosting agreements and home contracts with DocuSign, Charmaine also took to the streets of Singapore to share about the environmental impact the paper industry has created, as part of the DocuSign Sustainability Campaign. She asked people, “Did you know that the paper industry is the fifth largest consumer of energy in the world? And to produce just one sheet of A4 paper, 10 litres of water goes down the drain”. They echoed somewhat similar sentiments like: “Much more than I expected!”, “I’m not sure,” “I’ll try to be more conscious”. Everyone agreed that they would like their workplaces to have more sustainable practices. John emphasized that sustainability is a great differentiator for businesses versus the competition. And as businesses in the private sector have the resources and capacity, it makes sense for these corporations to initiate the move to reduce paper usage. He also urged companies to find tangible ways to marry the long-term interests of the business and the planet. Charmaine cited key statistics: the average business is increasing its paper usage by 22% a year and only 3% of workplaces are completely paperless. With this alarming trend, there is urgency to initiate ways within the organisation to reduce paper usage at work. Emcee Singapore: Charmaine enjoyed George Yeo’s fireside chat on his perspectives of opportunities for growth in ASEAN and China in the coming decade, and found the macroeconomic outlook sessions extremely engaging and insightful. Mr Yeo noted that the global economy is going through a turbulent transition to a multipolar world, which will include a multipolar financial system. But ASEAN will become even more important as a trade and manufacturing hub in the global economy. And with Singapore smack in the middle of the region, will benefit a lot if we position ourselves right. China will remain an most important manufacturing hub, its currency will be one of the major ones in the world and its domestic economy will become a major driver of global growth in the coming decades, just as the US domestic economy was in the past decades, he said. Charmaine gained insights on howASEAN has increased its share of trade with both the US and China since 2018 from Suan Teck Kin, Head of Research, Global Economics and Market Research, UOB. • DocuSign Sustainability Campaign

Emcee Singapore: Did you know that to make just one piece of A4 paper, 10 litres of water goes down the drain?! I’m so amazed at how DocuSign eSignatures and other digital platforms are helping businesses to push the boundary of sustainable innovation. A collective commitment to going paperless has a huge impact on the environment. Just to share a nugget from the DocuSign ebook “Is paper costing us the earth” on how paper is made. Producing one tonne of non recycled paper requires 1,440 litres of oil, 2.3 cubic metres of landfill space, 4,000 kilowatts of energy, and 26,500 litres of water. To make just one piece of regular A4 paper, 10 litres of water is used. Demand for paper is expected to double before 2030, despite accounting for around 26% of total waste at landfills. With these sobering figures in mind, one way to save the earth is to switch to a paperless agreement process like DocuSign eSignature. DocuSign customers around the world have saved over 55 billion sheets of paper, 6 million trees, 26.8 billion litres of water, 2.1 million tonnes of CO2, over 900,000 tonnes of wood and over 145,000 tonnes of waste since the tool was first introduced. The e-book shows how businesses can start their sustainability journey by going digital and introducing new technology to save costs, save trees and enhance productivity. Going paperless also boosts customer loyalty and brand reputation. In short, it pays to go paperless.
