  • Singapore International Cyber Week 2022

Emcee Singapore : Charmaine hosted several key events at the Singapore International Cyber Week 2022, with Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean announcing the setting up of a ransomware task force to tackle rising threat on businesses. The theme for SICW 2022 was “Digital Security: A Shared Responsibility”. SICW 2022 aimed to ramp up the momentum on cyber capacity building and international partnerships amid a landscape fraught with increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. It further explored strategies to navigate volatile power relations between state and non-state actors. In the sessions, the panels discussed a wide range of topics including: “Cyber Resilience in the New Normal” on how governments can work with industry to deal with national security challenges arising from the growing intersection of the cyber and physical domains. These transboundary challenges include disruptions to critical information infrastructure and ransomware. “Safeguarding a Shared Digital Future” on how governments can work with industry to harness the opportunities of digitalisation. It will discuss principles and practices government and industry can potentially align on for governance of the digital commons, akin to international regimes governing the other global commons of the air and sea. “Building Confidence and Trust in Cyberspace” on how it is especially important to preserve avenues for dialogue and build mutual trust in cyberspace to reduce the risk of misunderstanding and conflict escalation. This is against a backdrop of increasingly sophisticated cyber-attacks and heightened geopolitical tensions, where misunderstanding and misperception of cyber incidents could lead to greater risk of conflict. Minister for Communication and Information, Second Minister for Home Affairs and Minister-in-Charge of Smart Nation and Cybersecurity, Mrs. Josephine Teo, continued to bring together all ASEAN Member States and ASEAN Dialogue Partner countries for frank and cross-cutting discussions on cybersecurity cooperation. These SICW conversations aggregated stakeholders and talked about an ecosystem approach on what governments, business owners and vendors could do to discuss how they can have adequate visibility of our security posture through collaboration. With the constantly evolving cyber threat landscape, cyber threat detection and response capabilities for the operational technology capabilities also need to keep up and evolve to manage Tomorrow’s cyber threats. • Podcast: Series on “Behind The Figures”

Emcee Singapore: Charmaine hosted a podcast engaging audience on two topics, one focusing on “The Impact of Change and Challenges” around the world and the second on “International Market Expansion”. Titled “Behind the Figures”, the podcast goes beyond the statistics to explore the trends shaping key sectors, like retail, restaurant and hospitality, and share advice on how to leverage the latest technology and innovation to make the most of it. Produced at a recording studio for international audience, the podcast series is scheduled to be uploaded on digital platforms in February 2023. In the first episode on “The Impact of Change and Challenges”, we explored why merchants need to take sustainability and ESG – that is, environment, social, and governance seriously – and how a greater focus on these issues is changing and enriching the way companies interact with their customers as well as creating new opportunities to grow. In the second episode on “International Expansion”, we discussed how expansion has always been a goal for ambitious businesses. Launching into new markets helps to create immense opportunities, including increasing revenue, staying ahead of the competition, and accessing new talent. And with technology creating a world that is more interconnected than previously, moving into a new market is more achievable than ever before.
